Barry Needle ABOUT BARRY:

Barry was born in the steeltown of Port Talbot where he served an apprenticeship as a fitter. Much of his early adult life was spent motorcycle racing until the onset of domesticity and a mortgage prompted him to seek a more leisurely pursuit! It was then, at the age of thirty, that he first became interested in photography. Eight years ago Barry started work on his self-assigned photographic portrait of South Wales, which in 2000, culminated in the publication of the book 'South Wales In Focus' containing 100 colour photographs of the region. More recently he has completed a photographic study of the River Wye from its source to the sea and is currently working on a collection of pictures featuring the landscape of the South Wales Valleys, for yet another book project. Married and with two daughters, Barry now lives in Llanelli. For most of his photographs he uses a Mamiya RZ67 medium-format camera with 65mm, 110mm and 180mm lenses.
