Police have discovered the human remains of a missing person in marshland in Swansea.

South Wales Police say they were called to an area near Llannant Road in Gorseinon on Tuesday, October 19, after receiving reports of the discovery.

A forensic examination has identified it to be that of 78-year-old Alun Price for whom a missing person’s appeal was launched in February 2019 after his car was discovered in the Loughor area.

A statement from South Wales Police read: “Shortly before midday on Tuesday, October 19, police officers were called to an area of marsh land near Llannant Road, Gorseinon, following the discovery of human remains.

“A forensic examination has identified the deceased as Alun Price, 78, who was reported missing from his home in Loughor on February 6, 2019.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances around Mr Price’s death and his family is being kept updated with developments.

“A file of evidence is being prepared for HM Coroner. The local community is thanked for its initial and ongoing efforts in trying to locate Mr Price.”
